Church of the Savior on Spilled Blood : One of the main churches in Saint Petersburg is the Church of the Savior on Spilled Blood which goes by numerous other names. It was built as a historical and memorial center  in the memory of Emperor Alexander II, who was assassinated at the church's location on March 13, 1881.  We visited the area a couple of times, but the inside is completely covered in tile mosaics.

Moscow Metro : Moscow is blessed with one of the most extensive, efficient, and extravagant metro systems in the world.  We explored this bright underground full of mosaics, stained glass, chandeliers, marble floors, and trains that run every 2-3 minutes.  It is beautiful and well worth exploring for an hour or two even if you don't plan to use the Metro to get around.

Mikhailovsky Gardens : Next to the Church of the Savior on Spilled Blood is a beautiful park called Mikhailovsky Gardens.  In conjunction with Saint Petersburg's city day celebration there was an interactive arts exhibit.
